Oh What a Week!

We have had quite an interesting week.  Mom went into work this Monday just like normal, but she was having contractions and cramping all day, they weren't getting any stronger, but they just would not stop.  She decided to call the doctor at about 1:30 and they wanted to see her at 3:30.  They hooked her up to the fetal monitor, the baby was moving fine but they picked up a couple of contractions and decided that she should stay home on Tuesday and Wednesday and come back on Wednesday for a follow-up.  We had a great time having her home with us, we didn't do too much, just relaxed and got belly rubs (we think it help Mom feel better).  The contractions subsided, but the cramping didn't so the doctor decided to pull her from work completely (well, they let her work from home until the end of the month).  We are so glad to have her home with us 2 weeks earlier than expected.

Wednesday afternoon she emailed her boss to update him on the events of the week and get everything straightened out to work from home.  She was really upset because he really wanted her to come in on Thursday for 3-4 hours for a meeting, to help him with a client and to gather her computer and other stuff.  She did have to get her computer but she really just wanted to slip in and out in 20 minutes and keep it as low key as possible.  When she got there, Nadia lured her downstairs to help her with something and much to her surprise...It was a surprise baby shower!!!  Mom was so shocked, there was cake and even more presents for Baby B (seriously I think he has enough).  She found out that they really just wanted her there for the shower.  Here are some of the pictures from the shower:

Then on Friday Mom and Dad went out to dinner to celebrate Dad's birthday (5/20) and go to Babies R Us.  On their way home they found a cute little girl dog running across Plank Road near a farm house and there were lots of cars coming!  Of course they immediately pulled over to check on her, they said she was super cute, she looked like Me (Hercules) but with longer fur.  Her little feet were really muddy and she kept trying to bite the mosquitoes flying around.  She didn't have a collar on, and she ran to the nearby farm house and sat in the driveway.  They assumed that she escaped but no one was home at the house.  Mom really didn't want to leave her in case she ran back out into the road, so they noticed a light on in the barn behind the house and so they drove back.  It turned out that she was at the right house, she was so muddy from running around the horse stables with her family, but it seemed someone left the door to the house open so she was running free.  Her family had no idea she was out by the road.  Mom and Dad came home knowing the little dog (Roxy) was safe with her family.

Road Trips and Play Dates

This weekend was another fun one for us, we have really been getting spoiled lately!  Last weekend we all got to pile into the car and go for a major road trip, one of our favorites!  We all went down to visit our Grandma and Grandpa (well Great Grandma and Grandpa for us).  They have a fenced in back yard, lots of squirrels that come around, and three big dogs running around in the yard behind theirs.  We ran around and played for hours, then we went inside and had a nice dinner.  Miss Pattie even gave us watermelon.  There was even a birthday cake for Dad, Hercules decided to help himself and lick at one of the corners while no one was looking.  He got in trouble, but I have good manners so I didn't.  By the time we were ready to get back in the car for the road trip home we were worn out, we slept pretty much the whole way home.  Dad listened to the Tigers, they had a rough start, but ended up winning the game.

Grandma and Grandpa are so excited about the new baby coming, it was fun for them to see Mom's baby, and Grandma and Miss Patti both got to feel the baby move for the first time.

A relaxing day at home and a Doctors Appt.

Today was a good day, well despite the non-May weather.  Mom had a doctors appointment and ultrasound  so they both took the day off and spent most of it with us.  We got to sleep in, then Mom and Dad went out to breakfast and to their appointment.  Everything looks good with the baby: he is growing well, Mom's blood pressure is good, the doctor is really happy with how everything is progressing.  She goes back in two weeks, and dad is already trying to plan the perfect day for the baby to come.  We won't complain because they say they will take us for a lot of walks when they want the baby to come.  Here are the ultrasound pictures, he was moving a lot this morning!

Then after their doctor appointment, they went to Petco and got some presents for us!  Then we spent the rest of the day together.  The Tigers are playing a double header, so we have been watching the game and playing.  Mom finally finished one of her projects for the baby's room...which still has stuff all over our bed.  And the changing table came today.  Most of the stuff is set up in the baby's room, well the big important items, but the decorating and little details still aren't finished.  There are nursery pics posted on Our Baby Info Site under the Nursery Pics page.

Sleep-Away Camp and Baby Showers

Last week was been pretty busy for us.  We got our Big Brother gifts in the mail and of course mom was parading us around the house in them.  Little B will get one too once he comes.  At this point we aren't really sure what to think about the new baby, all we know is that he is getting tons of gifts already!

Then this weekend we went to Sleep-Away Camp in Elburn for the whole weekend.  Mom and Dad were in Michigan for another baby shower and decided we would have more fun at camp.  There were so many birds and rabbits to chase, other dogs to play with, they even have horses!  Our tails are wagging at the thought of all the fun we had over the weekend.

Mom and Dad had a ton of fun at their baby shower, they came back with even more stuff for Little B.  At least we get to sniff everything, but once again our bed is covered with baby stuff and there is no room for us. Hopefully she will get everything put away soon so that we can go back to sleeping and barking at the neighbors from the comfort of our bed.

I wonder if we will get to use that little bouncy seat at all...we will just have to keep our paws crossed.

Our First Blog!

Thanks for checking out our blog, and bear in mind that we are still getting the hang of this whole blogging thing.  We really just want to share a bit of our lives, with the new baby coming next month, and mom and dad on a crusade to find eco-friendly/cruelty free household products, and our interest in animal rescue/animal rights.  We seem  to have picked a pretty crazy time to start this blog, but it will be a good way to keep family and friends up to date on what's going on in our lives and to spread the word about topics near and dear to our hearts.

I also need to give a shout out to Mandy @ Big City Baby (her blog should show up in my Blog List).  She has been giving me information on cloth diapering and in doing so I began following her blog and thought it was really neat.  So I decided that I too would jump into blogging.  So thanks to Mandy @ Big City Baby for all the info/help with all my cloth diapering questions and for inspiring me to start this blog.

Have a great weekend, and wish us luck in our blogging efforts!
